GMC Hummer EV Pickup Overview
Performance and Power
The Hummer EV Pickup is powered by three electric motors—one in the front and two in the rear—producing a combined total of 1,200 horsepower. This substantial power allows the truck to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3 seconds when using its Watts to Freedom (WTF) mode, designed for maximum performance. Equipped with 35-inch mud-terrain tires (and designed to accommodate 37-inch tires), the truck excels in off-road conditions.
Range and Battery
The Hummer EV Pickup is fitted with a 205 kWh battery, the largest available in a production consumer vehicle. The battery provides an estimated range of 329 miles on a full charge, making it suitable for long-distance travel. The vehicle supports Level 2 charging, though fully charging the large battery may take up to 18 hours using a residential charger.
Technology and Features
The Hummer EV Pickup is loaded with advanced technologies designed to enhance the driving experience. One standout feature is the rear-wheel steering, which allows the rear wheels to turn up to 10 degrees in either direction. This feature reduces the truck’s turning radius, making it surprisingly maneuverable for its size, even in tight spaces like parking lots or off-road trails. The truck also includes the Crab Walk feature, which allows the vehicle to move diagonally by turning all four wheels, adding to its off-road versatility.
Exterior and Design
Visually, the Hummer EV Pickup reflects the bold, rugged styling that has become synonymous with the Hummer name. The front of the truck features a unique LED light bar that spells out "HUMMER" while doubling as a charging indicator. Its boxy silhouette and robust exterior highlight its off-road readiness, while practical features such as the MultiPro six-way tailgate add to its functionality. The Hummer EV’s suspension system offers 9 inches of ride height adjustability, allowing it to adapt to different terrains with ease.
Interior and Comfort
Inside, the Hummer EV Pickup is equipped with two large 12-inch screens: one for infotainment and connectivity and the other for driver information. These screens use a custom interface, bringing a futuristic touch to the cabin. The roof features four removable transparent Sky Panels, allowing for an open-air driving experience. Although the interior is designed with rugged aesthetics in mind, it prioritizes functionality over luxury. Durable materials dominate the cabin, reflecting the truck’s off-road capabilities, though some details, like the wide center console, provide a sense of spaciousness.
Charging and Efficiency
While the large battery capacity offers an impressive driving range, it also requires significant time to recharge, especially on a standard residential charger. However, the Hummer EV’s range is comparable to or slightly better than some competitors, like the Ford F-150 Lightning.
